    Default Notepad++ Language formatting by file extension

    So, I'm using Notepad++ to edit.

    I have a friend who told me that there's a way to have the program turn on specific language formatting when opening certain filetypes. Say, I've got files with extension .axvw and the majority of the time, I'm going to want to view them with the XML Language formatting turned on, so I'd like to automatically associate that.

    He couldn't remember how to do it, though, and I haven't been able to puzzle it out myself.

    Bueller?

    Try Settings -> Style Configurator

    Then find XML in the Language list and select it. In the lower left corner there are two text boxes. In the User ext. box, add your file extension.

    Let me know if that works.
    If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
    You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

    I'll try it first thing tomorrow! Thanks.

    You can also manually edit (presumably with Notepad++ ):

    Code:
    %AppData%\Notepad++\stylers.xml

    Haha, there's a practical solution, too!

    Thanks, Richard, it worked just how you said.
