Default Drawing file size is big for no reason

I have a drawing here in the office and for some reason it is 20MB in size. It is NOT a large drawing. Just a few details. We decided to write-block each detail out and create a new drawing with these details only to find that each detail we created is 20MB as well. Audit check found no errors but finds on "pass 1" 258 entities "pass 2" 258 entities and "Pass 3" 605000 entities. what's up with that??? can't find the entities anywhere. even when we ERASE>ALL and purge it is still 20MB. Any ideas? We are about to start the drawing from scratch and I thought I'd try here first.

    THANKS!!!!!!

Have you looked at layer filters? Those can also bloat the drawing.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

Most likely, it's full of layer filters. If not, can you zip it up and post it?

Here is the problem solver Link

I am promise you, it is not objects, or unpurged dead objects, it is growing layer filters.

    sorry, it's not that either.

We ended up copying and pasteing the details into a new file and it seemed to do the trick but we never founbd out the issue.

that very issue happened a lot to our dept while using 2005..... and copy/paste was only thing that fixed it, too.
Sometimes, i get lost in my own thoughts and need to ask directions to find my way back.

Try Zoom Extents in Model and each Layout, then save the drawing
