Default 2012 doesn't want to let me select elements

    OS: Windows 7 64-bit

I just installed 2012 and opened some files. What I'm experiencing is this:

    - When I mouse-over elements, they highlight normally. So far, so good.

    - When I click to select a HIGHLIGHTED element, usually nothing happens. Sometimes, I can select an element this way. However, I can't click exactly ON the element, I have to be offset from the element just a tiny bit--it's like there's a sweet spot that I have to find.

    - If I double-click, it will *usually* select the element. Again, however, I have to be offset from the element in the "sweet spot."

    - If I'm mousing-over an element, and it highlights, tabbing doesn't work to cycle to different elements.

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

Nevermind. Turning off "Use Hardware Acceleration" solved the problem.

Seems odd, do you still have the little navigation bar showing at the upper right corner of each window? If so, try closing that. I never use that bar, and found that any selection/highlighting issues would go away after closing that tool bar.

What graphics card do you have?

    Thanks for the reply.

I have an ATI FireGL V5800 with Autodesk's recommended driver installed.

I'll try turning the navigation toolbar off and see if that helps.

Cool Re: 2012 doesn't want to let me select elements

    Hello.

It's not an answer but one question.

I read you have an "ATI FireGL V5800", is it the same like "ATI FirePro V5800"?

If yes, what configuration do you have?

    What PC model, motherboard, etc.

Let me know if you want...

    Thanks.

Sorry, I don't know what the differences are between the FireGL and FirePro models.

In answer to your other question, however, we have Dell ACPI x64-based PCs with quad 2.13GHz Xeon CPUs and 12GB RAM.

We've been having the same issues with Revit 2012 on machines running Win7 x64 with ATI V5800 video cards. We think we resolved the issue by uninstalling all ATI drivers and purging them from the harddrive, restarting, and then installing the latest ATI driver (was just released on 6/6/11.)

We also turned off the navigation bar and turned off hardware acceleration. I'm not sure which did the trick, but we're up and running again.

    Good luck.

Turning off the hardware acceleration worked for me.
