    Default Rotate underlay problem

I just created a large, high resolution PDF aerial map of our refinery from our county's GIS service. In AutoCAD, I attached the images in a tile formation to cover the area I needed. Now, I want to use this as a base layer to true up existing plot plans for the facility. However, when I rotated the attachments to align with our drawing coordinates, their frames reappeared despite having turned the frames off. I tried regenerating the image to no avail. Any ideas?

type TFRAMES at command line, hit enter and set to off.

    Steve,

TFRAMES was an unknown command to my AutoCAD LT 2013. Do you know why that would be?

    Thanks

Don't listen to him, he's old.

Just use FRAME these days (well, you can use PDFFRAME, but, FRAME overrides the other specific *frame variables, so I prefer to just use it).

    Wanderer,

I didn't realize that the FRAME command was the same as I was doing: Insert Tab>Reference>Display and plot frames dropdown > hide frames. It is, though, and the frames are turned off in the image I posted. This only happens after I rotate the underlay to match our plot plan coordinates. The frames turn off normally before the underlays are rotated, but reappear even when off after rotating. I re-checked numerous tiimes to make sure they were off, and regenerated. They just won't go away!

I confess, I'm almost as old as he is. I use the keyboard for a lot of things that can be done via the menus.
So, yes, that is the same variable.

    Are these underlays clipped?
Do the frames show up when plotting, just on screen, or both?

The underlays were not clipped in AutoCAD, but they were cropped in Adobe. The frames appear very faintly when plotted, but nothing like the image on the screen. I don't need to plot it, but just use it to line up AutoCAD objects (buildings, roads, tanks, process areas, etc.) on our plot plans. The frames are just very distracting to have to ignore while I do the true ups!

Thanks for your interest, by the way!

I think I've read about other people having problems with frame settings going wonky when they'd clipped their underlay in autocad, but, don't recall anything when being rotated, sorry. Yeah, I can imagine how distracting that would be when using them for reference.

Maybe someone else will come along with other ideas.

    Just a thought...

I've always kept map images "correctly" oriented... i.e. north is up. Any geometry I've had to place or draw on top of that image is rotated to align with that idea. If I needed it rotated for some reason after that (happens far too often), then I knew where true north was in relation to my structure.

I can imagine you already have a lot of this stuff drawn, but I don't think it would be too difficult to rotate everything to align it to the image, and then rotate it back once you've got everything sorted out. Just keep a note of what the rotation is and your basepoint for rotation and everything should work.

I know... doesn't "fix" your problem, just a work around.
