Default Contour Elevations on Polylines from Lidar

    Good morning.

I am having some trouble with lidar contours. I have gotten to the point where I have brought the contours into my CAD file using Map Import. The problem is that I am provided a "Contour" elevation for each polyline but I need those elevations to be the actual elevation for the polyline. I'm attaching a screenshot to help explain what I'm asking. Any help is appreciated!

    You might try this workflow.

That is actually the process I have been trying to follow. For some reason I always get stuck at number 5. It will not allow me to browse to our server.

    That interface is ... different.

In the upper right corner of the Select drawings to attach dialog, the is a button to "Create/Edit Aliases". You will need to specify a Drive Alias / Actual Path. The Drive Alias will be a letter or whatever you want to call it. The Actual Path is the path to your network path.

I don't have elevation as an option. Is there a way for me to add it? I'm attaching a screenshot.

After you import with all of the data, is the property value of Contour a number? You should be able to see the value in the Properties Palette.

I have tested this workflow with a shp file from your state (upper right corner of the state). This workflow works.

    My steps were:
    1. Download data (of course) and extract from compressed folder
    2. Create new drawing
    3. Set drawing coordinate zone to match the data or at least the local zone the data will fall into
    4. Mapimport data setting the Data column to Create Object Data
    5. You may need to check the import polygon as closed polylines before importing
    6. Save this drawing to the local drive
    7. Create a new drawing with your desired coordinate zone
    8. Turn MAPWSPACE to ON
    9. Select the Map Explorer tab of MAPWSPACE
    10. Find the Drawings branch and right-click it to then select Attach...
    11. Select the first drawing containing the contours previously imported
    12. Expand the Query Library branch to show the Current Query
    13. Right-click the Current Query to Define...
    14. On the left side where it has Query Type, click the Location... button
    15. Here you can select All and press OK
    16. On the right side where it has Options, click the Alter Properties... button
    17. In the Select Property area, check the Elevation property
    18. In the Expression area, Find and click the Expression... button
    19. Navigate and select the property you want to query data from. For this it will be Object Data -> (name of the data table) -> CONTOUR
    20. Click OK
    21. Click Add and then click OK to close the Set Property Alterations dialog
    22. Find the Query Mode area and check Draw
    23. Then click the Execute Query button

The polylines that are imported should have the elevation desired. Save the drawing back to the network or where ever you need it stored.
