Default Disable the F1 key from opening the Help window?

My left pinkie must need to lose some weight...

Is there a way to disable the F1 key from opening the Help window? I have tried going in to the help menu portion of the ADT cui and deleting the key assignment, but it didn't work.

One way, and a lot of people do this, is to physically remove the F1 key. It should just pop off with a little gentle persuasion (like a house key to pry with)

Default RE: Disable F1 key

You can always do like I did and physically pop it off the keyboard...

Another alternative would be to assign that key a different function. See the post linked here: Help reassigning that pesky F1 key

Hope this helps!

Default RE: Disable the F1 key from opening the Help window?

OK, everything goes according to plan until I hit the Keyboard Shortcuts icon. Then, every time I hit one of the icons, the following message pops up:

"An unhandled exception has occurred in a component in yourapplication. Click continue and application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

So, when I highlight any of the commands in the command list, the command is not recognized by the CUI and I cannot assign the command to any key.

Running ADT2006 SP1

In that case, you may consider option #1...

See the attached video. Make sure that Caps Lock is not on when you make the key assignment.

Sorry for the zip file, but the video pixel size is too large to post directly.

looks like robert B beat me back to you.... You can disable the F1 key.

I did and now my keyboard looks right... (like I care).

Sorry didn't get back sooner.

Joe.

RobertB:
The zip file (which you sent in March? sorry I didn't see it sooner) only had a GIF image, no video. The GIF showed what I SHOULD see when trying to define shortcut keys, but I still get the error message mentioned previously, caps lock or no.

The video is a GIF, an animated GIF. The error you mention is probably due to a corrupted CUI file. If you could zip your CUI file and post it here, I might be able to see where the issue is.
