Angry Unusual Symbol Behaviour

Has anyone encountered an issue with erratic symbol behaviour on different sheets?

I have a project containing many sheets. Some of my users cannot insert a symbol vertically but I can insert the same symbol vertically and horizontally. If he tries to insert it vertically he just gets a horizontal symbol. I have ensured the orientation tickbox changes every time!!

Another issue is of line types/colours. If you choose the wire type (layer) before inserting a wire, it just comes out white. You then have to click on the properties of the wire and change the colour to ByLayer. When I insert a wire it works as it should.

The trouble is that the settings for each sheet match the project, some sheets work as expected but two users have the above problems, but I don't when I try on the same sheets in the same project!!

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
