thought i could change the color here....

the red arrows point to 3 "walls".......i have the wall named "beam"....it is (2) 2x12's (height of wall is 11 1/4" hight)......and a made a new stud layer "stud layer red" so i could change the color....and wanted to change its color to red, just so i could see it.

the change in the color does not seem to affect the color of the wall i am using as a beam

i do this wall/beam thing because i like how it works ie. beam spanning between columns at exterior porch.....

is this silly?....why cant i change the color?

Two possible sources of error to check...

1) You have changed the stud layer material, but in the construction of the wall, there are additional layers of wall on top of the stud layer?

2) Somewhere, these walls have been "Join Geometry"-ed to another wall object. When this happens, both joined objects take on the same material.

Give those a shot and let us know if it helps.

there isn't anything in the wall that covers the stud layer....1 layer stud, 1 layer plywood, 1 layer stud....i guess i'll try and separate them from any adjacent wall
