Hi there,
I've downloaded the demo version of revit architecture 2010 from autodesk.com
i installed it and when i tried to run it, it crashes and in the windows bar it writes this sentence
"SECSplashWnd" not responding...
I've updated my geforce card but nothing happened....
Has anybody experiences that before...

is this the first time you load it or did you enable hardware 3d acceleration?

From your description, Revit has not really started yet. It sounds like the startup splash screen is crashing... does your system meet the minimum requirements for RAM, Processor, and Hard drive space?

If so, then make sure windows is up to date with all the service packs and that you are running internet explorer 7 or later with all service packs.

I have the same problem.
I downloaded the trial, and I just can't get it to work.
I installed the Metric English version, with only the International Metric template.
It crashes on the splash screen.
I updated my graphics card drivers, still the same problem.
I'm currently updating my Microsoft Vista.
I have a Centrino Pro 2.0ghz + 4gb of ram + Nvidia GeForce 8600m GT 512mb Asus Laptop.

Please help asap, I'm in the middle of a project, I was hoping of upgrading from 2009.

Your machine sound decent. Do you have all the Vista Updates from www.windowsupdate.com? What version of Internet Explorer are you using and is it updated? I don't know if this will solve the problem... just troubleshooting.

Fill out a support request with Autodesk through your subscription center... this would be a good one to get resolved.

Other thoughts, try disabling any hardware acceleration on your video card and make sure that everything is set to default like refresh rate, color, monitor size, etc...

Yes my system meets requirements sure
i am running windows vista ultimate 32bit
p 4 and 2 gb of ram
display card nvidia geforce 6200 its kinda old but running everything else good

the thing is i tried to disable hw accleration but
i find this option inactive for me
it tells "your current display driver does not allow changes to be made to hardware acceleration settings"
i tried 2 differet recent driver but it is the same...

i tried another pc but i got the same exact problem also...
may be because grpahics card for them both are old??

have anyone experienced that before??

Hi osama.215867,

There are quite a number of posts in other threads on video cards and 2010, and from my reading of them, those with Nvidia cards are having many more problems than those with ATI cards. It seems to be a compatibility issue with DiretX9.

I am guessing that as your are quite old and Nvidia this indeed could be the source of your problems, although the ram is another possible candidate. If my memory serves me correctly, Vista will use a huge chunk of your 2gb for itself. I have found that with 64bit Vista 8gb gives excellent results whilst 4gb worked but was substantially slower. Never tried with 2GB.

Cheers,

Ian

Actually, I had all the updates except the Windows Vista SP1.
Installing it fixed the problem, BUT, it made my computer super slow.

I received advice from Autodesk Support indicating that a damaged .NET was at fault.

I have posted about it on my blog: http://whatrevitwants.blogspot.com
