Hi I have a very anoying problem here.
I am working on a drawing done by one of our drafter. He has bunch of DTEXT and MTEXT which looks fine any ucs settings.
However when I goto edit it in text editor and start typing or editing the text obscures into 45 degrees.
While DTEXT editor is workable but in MTEXT editor it looks horrendous. All of the text are 45 degress and jumps few lines and become impossible to read when editing.
I've checked all the UCS, Variables, settings and even MTEXTED, MTEXTFIXED but still no luck - inc old editor.
I suspect he's used a very old dodgy template which he brough with him from many many versions ago.
When I copy everything in the drawings to our standard 2008 ACAD template the editor behaves normally.
Does anyone know why the text editors are doing this?
Solution would be MUCH MUCH appreciated!!!!

Looks fine here in both 2009 and 2010 however, the bad text is in a UCS that is rotated -26.6 degrees from WCS, as shown on the right after UCS/OBject.

See MTEXTED and MTEXTFIXED in help files.
I have checked and used corect setting - As mentioned in my inital post.
I still can't fix the mtext/dtext random rotation without copying everything into another drawing.

This is the other post regarding this issue:

althought the poster doesn't really explain the solution.

Do you NEED the text to have its own UCS?

well not really I just need the text to be readable at horizontal when typing in any UCS.
26.1 degrees multi text while typing is impossible. You cannot see what you type in.
Mtexted - 2 should have fixed it but this bad text behaves like a bad virus.

If there's not too much of it, you could transfer the text to WCS and side-step the problem.
UCS
OB
pick text
ctrl+X
UCS
W
ctrl+V

Just a few queries: What version AC are you running? What graphics card do you use? Running with hardware acceleration on / off? If on, which type of acceleration DirectX / OpenGL, and what components? Newest driver? Is the card accredited by ADesk?
Seeing from the rest of the replies about 2009 & 2010, as well as mine (2008 ) it seems there's something else going on. See attached screen shots ... the MText editing looks fine, the flashing text bar cursor works as well (although the screen capture doesn't show it). Even if I turn the view according to the object's UCS.

The text looks fine in 2009, but highlight it to edit it. The highlight is angled at about 26 degrees or so. That's the weird part. Also, if I convert some of the dtext in the drawing to mtext, it does the same thing. It has to be a setting somewhere, I just don't know where.

Very strange, it must be something with 2009 then. On my 2008 your drawing gives no such "feature", selection also works as expected.

My 2009 just shows the rotated UCS icon; the text remains horizontal in mspace and in the editor (internal).

Ahhh, yet another twist in an already screwed up scenario!!

I thought the same thing, some setting we missed. The UCS in text editor has not adjusted to the correct UCS. I think AutoCAD cannot recognise the ucs has changed in text editor.
It is also very strange when I type a new DTEXT or MTEXT in a new UCS the 25 degrees happens again. It looks like its snapping to World UCS regardless of the new ucs.
