Using image background in Revit walkthrough?

I want to use an image extracted from Google Earth as an underlay on a site plan model walkthrough. Can this be done?

We've tried importing an image which didn't seem to work.

Also tried importing a decal and placing it on a floor object but we can't get it to show up.

It can be done. Edit the image you got from Google so it shows only the area you need. Then in Revit, make a new material and replace the image with the image from google. Change the size to the same size it is going to be in the model. So if the site is 50m wide, make the image size 50000, and then aply the material to the site.
