I don't understand too well Publish and Acquire coordinates.

What is the best practice for linking Revit files?

Right now I have to juggle files just to get them to line or correctly.

1.) I open up the Arch file and linking a MEP file.

2.) I publish my Arch file to my MEP file

3.) Then I open a second Revit session and open the MEP file and link in the Arch file

4.) I then Aquire the coordinates from the Arch link.

Then one file will magicly line up while the other one does not.

Right now I am trying to link 4 Revit models from an outside source and I have created a "Master Model" to link in all the files into one, so that this "Master File" is basicly only linked files to make the entire picture.

Everything comes in, in different places and trying to get them to line up is a nightmare.

What I have done is put a model line in one file, then copy and paste align in current view for all the other files.
Then I use Report and Specify coordinates to specify the end point of that model line so they are the same in all files. This works but takes about 30 minutes to accomplish. (not really 30 minutes but it is a pain in my ??? and I hate doing it)

There has to be a better way to merge Revit links and align them easily.

Can some one explain to me their process for linking files.

Thanks
