getting underlay to display properly

I have a remodel project that, in the existing roof plan, I would like the level below to not be half tone. I thought this would be set by selecting "beyond" linestyle and setting line weight to 1 and color to black style to solid. But this appears to be the default and my underlay still displays as half tone. Can anyone get me in the right direction on this.

If you are working in 2010, you can change the graphic style of an underlay or what 'halftone' looks like very easily - Manage>Settings>Halftone/Underlay.

Keep in mind this is a project-wide setting - not view specific!
