Revit material surface pattern file location?

I'm trying to find where material .pat files are stored in Revit 09. I want to import the pre-existing roof shake.pat so I can change the scale. Can't seem to find individual .
pat files.

Revit .pat files are located together in a single file. You would have to open the file in text editor, delete everything but the individual pattern you want, then save as. Then in your custom pattern creator dialogue, import the new file at whatever scale you need for the custom pattern.
