Aerial Photos and Area Plans

We are in the embryonic stages of design for an addition and renovation of a school, I do not have the site modeled yet but I would like to view an aerial photo in a 3D view, is this possible?

Additionally, we are using area plans for the layout of the addition, can I view area plans in a 3D view?

In short No but there are always workarounds :)

1. You will need to render the view and use a custom rendering material that has the photo. Ground Plane

2. You can export the 3D view as an image and use another photo program to insert the aerial photo.

To view an area plan in a 3D view. Orient a 3D view to another view and select your area plan.
