Hi, I am trying to figure out how to use parameters. I know how I can set them up in a family file & make them so that they adjust different aspects of the object, but what I am having problems with is when I load my family file into my project. I don't have the option to adjust these parameters. I have family files nested inside of family files and the parameters from the files that are nested do not show up to be able to change. Is it not possible to adjust these said parameters unless you open the nested family file & change them? I tried using shared parameters but I still don't get how I can make them show up to change the dimensions in a job.
Basically, I modified the pier bent detail from the Revit extensions to make a typical pier that we see in many of the bridges we inspect. The pier detail is a family file. Then inside of that family there is a bearing detail that is nested & sits on top of the pier. The bearings are setup in their family to be arrayed & have parameters for spacing & number of bearings. That family has a nested object in it as well that is just one of the bearings which has editable dimensions for the size of the bearing plate & girder plate. So is it possible to make those editable dimensions in the single bearing family to show up & be changeable in the project?
Thank you
