Hello AUGI Members,
I have created some custom wall styles to use on project work. Over time the master wall styles have been updated to reflect current project requirements. However, there are many drawings that were developed using the original wall styles that now need to have the wall styles updated.
The only way I know of to update the wall styles is to open each drawing and go into the wall styles and update them.....then save the drawing and move on to the next drawing.
This is very time consuming.....is there a quick and simple way to modify the wall styles on multiple drawings.....??
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Regards,
Vince

I haven't used it much, but check into AEC Project Standards. You can have wall styles, door styles, etc. Then run an audit and synchronize your drawings with the standards drawing. It should change all the wall style to the updated style as long as they are named the same.

I could be wrong, but if you kept the same style name you may be able to write a script to insert that wall style into your drawings and "OverWrite" the existing.
I would highly recommend against this approach since you don't know what it might screw up.
If it's an old project, I'd say leave it the way it is until you need to re-model or do more work, then maybe you bring it up to the current standards
I'd also suggest that every time you create a unique walls style, you put it in the wall styles template, then you can always load it.
When people have to make stuff up on the fly as they try to finish their work, you are going to end up with wall styles and nomenclature all over the place.
If you have a point person, have them create the wall style and just get everyone to pull from the template. Otherwise you'll never know what you're going to get.
Happy Deadlines. :screwy:

Vince by the date of your posting I am sure my reply is not timely enough to help you, but it might help someone else.
If you are using ADT back as far as 2005 or Architecture 2008, Open the drawing that contains your "master wall styles" and all drawings you wish to update. From the pull down menus select FORMAT, Style Manager. Open the sub folder fro Architectural Objects, and then drag the Wall Styles to each of the drawings you want to update. In the dialog box check the option for Overwrite Existing. Click OK, OK, and that's it. From the same drop down you may also need to select the Material Definitions tool and likewise drag any or all custom materials for the wall styles.
Usually that works, but alas that is why I am here, looking for an answer of why it isn't working in one drawing.
