So I've been using Revit for over a year now - and I'm in charge of creating all of the families for my firm. When I first started creating these families I was shown how to create Shared Parameters so that they could schedule - but was not told how the shared parameter file works. So I had started with windows, and not realizing that you use the same shared parameter file for ALL shared parameters, I placed the file in my Windows folder in my Library.

Can I move this file so that it's somewhere safer? My concern is that someone will go looking for a window family, not understand what the text file is for and delete it.

You can put the file anywhere you want. There is no "link" with families or projects. I call it a dictionary because I don't have "link" to a dictionary but I use words all the time

Make sure all the people that rely on the shared parameter know where it is now, if necessary.

So moving it won't affect the families I've already created?

Thanks!
