Material Takeoff for MEP

I want to know is there a way to generate a material takeoff for the MEP stuff.
The stuff that you import into your revit file since their files are all .dwg files.

I want to develop a schedule that shows the length, area of the MEP elements. But since they are the imported elements, do I have to explode them or import them as the massing element?
