Materials in Sketchup import

How do you get materials on an imported sketchup model to render in Revit?
I've created layers for each material in SU and then imported into Revit. From there I can reset the material for each layer in Object Styles, but they still render as default material. anyone?

Did you use the 'Color by layer' option in SU? I've also found it won't work if you also have materials assigned to the layers in SU.

I tried re-importing directly into the project instead of into a family and the rendering worked. Not sure why it made a difference, though.
