Revit with Impression

Hello,

I have a simple question, would it be best to export a Revit project to DWG or DWF to be used in Impression?
Currently my designers are using acad to impression, but will be using Revit soon, so I'd like suggestions on the better workflow from Revit to Impression, DWG or DWF.

I guess it would depend upon what you are trying to do with it in Impression. To do alot of coloring, you'd probably be better off exporting a DWG for import into Impression. That gives you the layer structure to work with. You can also bring a DWF in from Revit, but it does not alway appear to have the same flexibility.

Neither is a great option out of Revit since you it doesn't export layers by material (yet?) but rather by category. If all you're doing with Impression is using the paint bucket then it doesn't really matter.

One approach I've taken on 2D views is to export them as DWG files, xref overlay them to a new file with layers named by material and, using BPoly, generate plines for each of the materials. In Impression I assign styles by layer. Since Impression can update the rendering when the DWG changes I've actually found this faster than using the paint bucket everytime.

Thank you both! I guess I would need to know the workflow. I don't use it myself, but I'll be training a few people in Revit that do use it, and I'd like to figure out the best way for them to keep using it. Sounds like DWG is the better option, I'll try it out.
