View Full Version : RAC 2010 - numlock indicator gone?
Perhaps only a small thing but I used to find it useful.
As far as I can see, in Revit 2010 the NUM lock indicator has gone.
In 2009 it was bottom right of screen.
the 'where is my command' utility shows it but no new location

I use a separate number pad and it is very easy to hit Numlock instead of Escape and the Revit 2009 indicator was a useful onscreen reminder.
Ho Hum

I totally agree and let autodesk know about this months ago. I want it back for the same reason as you. There's plenty of room down there to put it and CAPS back.
It's yet again more loss of functionality in this release.

Hey there,
I miss the CAP showing too. I had to go back into Windows and figure out how to get my CapsLock button to make a sound when switched on or off I didn't have to guess every time.
C'est la vie.

uhhh what? 2009 doesn't indicate CAPS or NUM lock for me. So I guess technically it's not "gone" in 2010.
*edit* oops my bad, I was in a 3D perspective view when I typed that. It does indeed show them both in 2009. Seems pointless to not have the CAPS indicator in 2010.
However, does your keyboard not have any lights indicating caps lock? My wireless keyboard has lights on the receiver, which sits directly underneath my screen, so I can see the status at any time. Truthfully I've never really paid attention to the indicators shown in Revit.
Yes, the keyboard light does show when on/off but particularly using an Intuos 4 tablet with a large screen I seldom look at the keyboard - unless it is to search for the two key shortcuts.
My PS/2 numpad is on my left separate from the keyboard - I have some of the keys reprogrammed to shortcuts (others are on the buttons of my Intuos tablet).
In fact I have just this minute dusted off a Cherry programmable USB keypad (G84-4700 seeing as how Revit doesn't work with a space mouse yet) to see if I can assign more shortcut key combinations to that (unlike the PS/2 version it uses software to assign meanings to the keys).
All in all trying to work around the new UI is taking quite a bit of time and effort.
BTW I used to think that Chad's little signature cartoon was maybe over-reaction but now I think it is spot on :? ;)

Not all keyboards have light indicators (I have one at home), even new models, which I also pointed out to Autodesk.
I too like to glance down to the bottom of the screen to see the keyboard status, in the same manner as you look at the Revit Status Bar.

hmm that's news to me. It just seems completely illogical to design a keyboard that doesn't have some sort of hardware provision for indicating caps/num/scroll locks. But that's just me I guess.

My keyboard has a light for caps lock, but not for number lock. I've found myself more than twice punching in numbers to no effect. The notification in the lower corner would be nice to have back.
