You will need to create an extrusion in plan following your curve in plan and higher than your trim needs to be. Then create a ref plane tangent to the curve, then create a section thru this and use a void extrustion to cut out the opening and the width of the trim. Basically your are "sculpting" the shape you want.

I don't suppose an in-place sweep path by picking the edges of that curtain wall opening would do the trick, would it?

as far as i know only lines on the same plane can be pick as path. I am not sure if 2010 and its super new 3d engine can handle lines on different planes, anybody?

Patricks is right, go to your 3d view and create an in-place sweep, be sure to select the appropriate family type, then pick your path select the edge of the wall where the curtain lies then pick your profile

No. Because the wall is curved, I don't think you'll be able to select the curved portion of the opening when picking the path.

Nope, it would appear that a curved edge inside a curved wall cannot be picked for a sweep path. Looks like Steve's method is going to be the only way.

I was able to do it with the Conceptual massing tools in place. I still was not able to pick a path but I was able to place reference points along the arched opening. I then used the points to establish a spline. Then drew my profile, selected the spline path and "create form.

The only problem is that it is in the "mass" category.
