How do you make certain massing objects hidden while other massing objects visible at the same time?

Let me rephrase the question
Is there a way to hide them all at once by using the selection tree in the project browser? It seems like the only option that's available is delete or rename?

You can select the masses you don't want to see on that view and type HH to hide them. If you ever want to bring them back, select the light bulb at the bottom of the screen to reveal it, then select them and "Unhide elements".
If you want to hide the all at once, you can turn them off by going to the visibility/graphics overrides (shortcut VV) and making sure that Mass is off. This is view specific.
Also, there's a mass overrides button (icon) that will turn mass on or off. Depending on what you want to do, you can use that as well.

If these are in-place mass families you can create sub-category's under the object stlyes then select each mass and under their properties assign thme to the various subcategories you've created, then under vv/vg you can turn on and off those sub-categories.
