I have many situations where I am modeling an existing structure and the stairs (small flight, 2-3 risers) is actually cast as part of the slab. I have created a slab edge family that models the stair nicely but cannot attach a railing to it. Anyone have any ideas? Creating stairs to acurately reflect the condition has been problematic in regards to the number of risers it wants to create regardless of the rules used.

so you have a monolithic concrete stair on the side of a slab

have you tried doing 2 different railings, one hosted by the stair and one by the slab?

You can only attach railings to Levels, Floors, Ramps and Stairs. I suggest mastery of the stair tool to get the actual shape you need. With a very simple single flight, make sure you fully understand the function of the "starts with" and "ends with riser" checkboxes.

This will result in overlap between the slab and the stair, but this is unavoidable with every stair in my experience.

Thanks. I am very familiar with the stair tool (wouldn't use the word mastery :-)) and it just will not yield the expected results thats why I went this direction to see if it would be an acceptable work around but no it will not allow a railing to be attached to the slab edge. May have to bail unfortunately because it is really sweat and simple and reflects the exact condition.
