Improve speed working with large images

Does anyone have any tips in relation to working in a Revit file that has a large image in it?

We have a need to include a particular image in a Revit file but panning and zooming is such a slow process. Any tips to speed things up are desperatly needed.

Workset the project and close that workset when you dont need to use/ see the image is all I can think of.

Same trouble here and won't print to printer or pdf without errors, almost unusable speed problems panning and zooming. Not sure if other file types are better. jpg, tiff, png bmp.
Needs some evaluation if anyone has the time.

Resize the image to be half size or so, try for about 200k max sized file, still a bit klunky but OK. Trouble is image quality for printing is not as good.
