Is there a way to get the ditches to slope at a specific slope and not have it only sloping with the alignment? I've tried adding feature lines with the elevations to the corridor surface, but it doesn't do what I want it to do. I've been trying to figure it out for a couple of days and I'm about to the point where I'm going to dump all my day lighting and just use feature lines. Any help on this would be great. I'm pretty new to the Civil 3D thing, but most of it seems to be coming together.
Thanks in advance!
Jon
Not really sure what you're asking...
Are you saying that you're trying to create a 2% slope (for example), but if you add in the slope of the alignment itself, you end up with ground that is at something greater than 2% slope? In other words, you only get 2% cross-slope when the alignment Profile is flat? Or, looking at it another way, if you have 2% going laterally along the station, and your Profile is also at a 2%, the net slope is diagonal away from centerline at something like a 2.3%? And what you need is a real ground slope that is maximum 2%, no matter what your alignment Profile is doing?
Or are you asking something else entirely?

I think I might be asking for something else.
I have my assembly set up to be crowned at a 2% going to the edge of pavement then daylights out to a ditch. I created my corridor and made a surface from that. Civil 3D appears to put ditches and fill areas where it wants to. I want to tell it to start a ditch where I want and I want the ditch to slope along the ditch at a specific slope along the alignment/corridor to a specific low point. I’m pretty lost when it comes to this. Thanks again. Any help will do.

I think I get what you are asking. You want a ditch flowline slope that doesn't match the road alignment slope, right? If you create a feature line of the desired flowline you can set that feature line as a horizontal and vertical target for your corridor, or you can create an alignment and profile of the flowline ant target the alignment and profile.

I'll give that a try and see if I can get it to work. That is exactly what I was looking for. I appreciate the help. I ended up pulling it out of Civil 3D because we have to get it out the door soon, but I'll be sure to do it the first chance I get. Thanks

I was able to get the ditch slope that I was looking for by using the View/Edit Corridor Sections. I tried to use other methods, but wasn't able to figure them out. The View/Edit Corridor Sections works, but takes some time and is very repetitive. Just thought that I'd fill y'all in on what I ended up doing. Thanks again for all your replies!

I am working on a project with a very similar issue. We are re-aligning an existing road and there is also an existing channel that meanders near the road and goes under it a couple times at culverts. We are pulling out a few of the crossing and paralleling it with the road. It is in concept stages at the moment to just propose to the city what r.o.w. and easements need to be acquired. But what I have done so far is make two different corridors one for the road and one for the channel. And I will use some feature lines or even hand grade it out to tie the two together into one overall surface. If there is a better method out there I know I would love to hear it.
