Weird, I upgraded an 09 model, just a 2 story house nothing fancy, I loaded the Tuscan column and inserted into the model and you can't see it in plan. If i sticjk one outside in thin air I can see it. No plan regions in use and view range is default.
If I let it touch a wall/header above it shows up.
Created new 4 sided model in same view with no floors etc. columns show up.
