I was wondering if there's a way to Lock Grid Lines once you've finalized where you want your walls? I'm using Revit Architecture 2009.

Thanks

A clever way I've learned from a coworker: create a Design Option called Grids, and then add all your grid lines to that option. They'll be visible and you can snap to them, but you won't accidentally select them, unless you uncheck the 'Exclude Design Options' box on the options bar. Works marvelously!

speaking of grids ...

is it industry practice when grids go thru exterior walls to place the grid line at the center core or edge of core.

there was much heated debate here on that

We use a standard (as much as possible) distance off of the exterior face of the wall.

It depends on what gets 'setout' first
If the floor slab gets built first, and the setout of the exterior walls depends on where the edge of the floor is, than our gridlines are to the slab edge etc etc

I love using design options to "Lock" things down.

Works great for interiors jobs, where you don't want anyone to accidentally delete minor things like... Oh I don't know... Structural Columns!
