have a quick question. what governs the sitck beam ends. seems like when adjacent to wall. they offset correctly but at other joists they don' t gap. see attached.

There are 3 different controls for the structural framing that controls the length of the 3D object: the extension controls and the length control; however, only the length control affects the single line symbolic drawing in the coarse setting. See attached image for further clarification.

thanks. this is a pain in the %#$. does anybody have a simpler way. i have to draw the joists to see a exposed ceiling.

Why do you insist on using a structural framing?

I usually do not touch this stuff unless I have to co-operate with a structural engineer who uses Revit.

I normally would create one joist as an in-place family by extrusion (can be of a structural framing type if you want) and then array it or copy it desired number of times.

I learned long time ago NOT to use structural elements if I can avoid it. They live their own life...
