I just completed my part 1 and decided it was time to take stock and re-orientate myself, what with the current economic climate and having not yet secured myself a placement. So I looked into improving my portfolio and redoing the projects I'd enjoyed but never quite been satisfied with. Tapping away at my PC thinking 'I'm not happy, I'm not happy...' over and over again, I accidentaly clicked on the icon that I had installed a few months ago but never opened, thinking what with all this work, I don't have time to learn something new, that complicated... that AutoCAD and Photoshop would get me through my final presentation... I clicked on Revit.
'oooh what is this?' I wondered... loading the 'getting started' files...
The next morning, with watery eyes, I had a brand new, beautifully rendered wallpaper for my desktop. I'm all in happy land. Now I've started the tutorials and it's getting tougher but there's an enthusiasm I haven't felt for a piece of software before. Six months before my student licence runs out, hopefully by then I'll be fairly proficient and ready to capitalise on it in my part 2!
Any advice out there for a complete Revit newbie: good tutorials, things to focus on or pit falls to look out for?
I must say I'm glad I clicked on that icon.
