When I draw model lines> circle with defined radius, the esc. key does not end the command, nor does right click>cancel. I have to select the arrow icon, or some other command icon.

Is this typical for the program, or is this yet another mysterious behavior specific to my install?

No it is not just you.

Try uncheking the radius option and then the Esc.key, etc. will work as you expect.

Esc will cancel the command for me, but I have to hit it NUMEROUS times to actually get it to cancel the command.

yep - 3 times to exit.

I just thought it was curious, and slightly annoying - like an insect that insists on using your airspace. I wonder if it is intentional, or just a minor mistake.

lol I hate when that happens... esc esc esc OOPS here comes help! :p

Luckily my Logitech keyboard has the Esc key a bit farther from F1, and it also has a concave (crater) shape, while the Function keys all have a convex (dome). All the keys across the top of my keyboard are round instead of the standard shape. The different feel of the Esc key makes it much easier to know it's the Esc key only by touch.
