Recover Info after Crash

So I crashed. Again - 2nd time today. This time right as I was finishing a fairly complicated layout for a staircase. I'm piping hot - mad - as is my boss. seems we've lost money on our project already, and I am at least a whole day from finishing. so....

What if my computer crashes before I have a chance to save? Is there a way to reproduce the steps I took - like culling something from an automatic save file, or journal?

If it's the normal Fatal Error message I've been getting in 2010, it should give you a chance to save a recovery file. Then I will just open that Recovery file, make a new Central file from that, then a new local (delete the Recovery file), and be on my way.

Otherwise, you just need to save often. Set your local save reminder to every 30 minutes, and do NOT ignore the reminder (as I'm so prone to do)!

I never lose more than 15 minutes when mine crashes... For the reason patricks mentioned. If youre losing tons of work, you need to save more.

Im not sure if it writes complete journals when it crashes, but if so i suppose hypothetically you could try to get your work back, but i dont think id bother for the 15 minutes i lose...
