Defaults with "dwg" after drawing name

Is their a way that when I save my drawing I can name it without the ".dwg attaching to the end of the name. It is attaching it automatically and I do not want it to happen.

Have to ask the question, Why?

How would AutoCAD be able to Open / Read the file without a .dwg extension (or any extension)?

With LISP or VBA you could probably achieve what you're after....

You could possibly just have explorer not show the file extensions?

Thank you for the response. This questions was asked of my by one of our dealers, and without spending lots of time of researching it, I quickly posted this question. Having windows the suppress extension name would be a very good fix.
