I've seen a few threads talking about dimensioning to reference planes or lines in order to dimension linked AutoCAD files. Does anyone have a best practice for adding dimensions to elements linked from a consultants AutoCAD file?
Here is what I have...I have sprinkler locations coming from a FP consultant which I need to dimension in my hard ceilings. I link their CAD file into the ceiling plan. Now from what I have read, if I dimension the sprinklers and then reload the Cad file, the dimensions will be deleted.
Is the best solution to use reference planes/lines? Anyone have other ideas? What do you do for lights, speakers, smoke detectors etc... coming from a non Revit using consultant, that have to be dimensioned in a hard ceiling?
Thanks
Tim
