We are trying to use the new conceptual mass tool at the start of our new designs. We do most of our work in the mountains so a 3-D site toposurface is very important.
It doesn't seem possible to import a toposurface into the conceptual mass file, am I missing something? This makes the new conceptual mass command useless unless you do all your work on totally flat sites.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

You should be able to do the massing "In place" in a project file that contains your topo surface. This isn't quite the same, as you won't have the levels visible in 3D view, but you can achieve the same results.

This will not allow me to use all the new conceptual massing tools in 2010.

Which of the new tools specifically can't you use? You shouldn't be missing any functionality. Seems far from useless.

The intention is to create a mass family and then load into the project if you need a totpsurface. If you need the toposurface in context to develop the mass then you can use the in-olace massing tools. You get all of the same control in-place as you do in a mass family. You have to make sure you select the "mass" category when working in-place or you will get the traditional massing tools for the other categories of object.

Thanks, I didn't realize creating an in place mass gave me the same editing options.
