When I insert a raster image (JPEG) it is in the back and I can't bring it to the front. I need to place the image on a wall in an elevation and it only goes behind it so that it is not visible. How do I fix this???

Imported images are always the lowest layer in Revit.

Is there a way to fix that?

it would be nice to be able to do that. my only answer is to put a decal on the wall or a masked material. within the wall

One way:
You can place the image as a decal & then render the view. That'll make it show.
When you place the image as a decal, you can select the wall face or picture frame face as the work plane, & the image will reside there.
Then go to a 3d view, orient the view to that plane, and then render it.

I want to avoid having to render the project if at all possible. Is there any other way?

Not in Revit. I've tried everything. I've also sent in reqests for display order of images. (I just wanted to use tiff scans of trees in my site plan and have them over buildings) I've also requested support for transparency and alpha channels.
For now this type of work still has to be done in Photoshop.

Try this.
Place the image in the elevation. Change the elevation's view to wireframe. If you get background stuff showing that you don't want ot see, turn on the far clip plane for the elevation, and adjust it to mask out stuff you don't want to see in the wireframe view.

Wireframe worked perfectly...thank you so much for the suggestion...I hadn't even thought of that. Once again, all of you saved me...thanks!

In release 1.0 and maybe 2 you could do this, but no longer. The model will always hide the image. Place a request, I've been requesting a draw order for images since it was changed it the first time. Your only option is to export the elevation to cad and bring it back in in wireframe mode, turn off your model and leave on the raster.

Does SD's tip in this post http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=10290 help the situation at all? Maybe his tip only works for plan views?

Unfortunately there is no work-around that will help with my situation. A draw order for raster images really needs to be implemented.
