Hi all,

Just wondering how to get a TV screen with an image on it to actually give off some proper light...

I can tweak the luminance and brightness, but the screen doesn't really give a realistic glow into the space.

How can you get it to light up a dark room a little?

I think they do something with light portals in 3ds max (?)

Any tips would be great,
Thanks :)

Add a Studio Light family inside your TV family if you want actual light to be cast by the screen. Self-Illumination is a 'diaplay only' property of materials and doesn' affect lighting at all.

Ok I see...

Is this the only way to get real world illumination? I was thinking of an illuminated shape on a wall face... Would this have to be created as a wall based 'Studio Light?
