I really need help on this one...

What i´m trying to do, is to set up a "lenght" label in a project file, just as we do in fammilies. The reason for this, is that i wanna be able to change/drive a distance from the Exterior side of my walls to the Grid lines. (Danish Modular System requires this)
Basicly i just want do drive the distance between the Grids and Ref. Planes, and then allign/lock the walls to the ref. planes... but in case that something changes, I don´t wanna have to manually move all the ref. planes, but instead just change a project parameter... And yes, you MAY call me lazy

Anyone have a solution, or workaround for this ?

Set up a family consisting of a couple of symbolic lines, and a dimension with your length (instance) parameter.

Load it, and align lock it's origin to your grid and the other end of the dimension line to your partition.

Then, select the family, and change the dimension....

Thanks.

Tried that allready thoug, with both a generic and a detail family. In both cases I just get the "Constraints not satisfied" when changing the distance between the lines in the family.
Any other options ?

I see your point. I tried an in-place family also and got the constraints error.

Not sure if this helps, but if you place and align lock your dimension family (assuming the dimension parameter is an instance parameter), and then dimension the wall, when you select the wall and change the dimension to move it, your dimension family parameter will change to match.

You could then report these to a schedule (use shared parameters), if that is your intent.
