Can anyone help please?

I’m trying to create a toposurface by picking points for the first time in Revit, by linking an AutoCAD 2D drawing and tracing the spot levels and I’m kind of stuck right at the start

I’ve read the help which says:-

Open a 3D or site plan view ~ how is a site plan view different from a level view and how do I create one?

If I work in a level renamed “site” I get the following message

“In your current active view, topographic elements are not visible. You can change visibility settings from the View menu, but is recommended that you edit topography in either a site view or a 3D view, as undesired clipping can occur in other views.”

I’ve searched the help and can’t find anything about how to create a site view and I’ve looked in Visibility Graphics and can’t find a tick box for Toposurface?

I know I’m missing something simple and it’s me but I can’t see the wood for the trees at the moment

A tutorial On Revit Zone at

Seems to suggest that " Your new Project File should contain default View called Site:-"

I don't seem to have a default view called "site" in the metric template supplied with RST2010 called Structural Analysis_DefaultGBRENU.rte

Is this correct?

Yes, you are correct. They are assuming you are in Revit Architecture. RAC templates all include a default view called site. The only different parameters for a "Site" plan view include things scale, Crop view, default view template settings...that's about it. Simple "Duplicate" your lowest level and name it site, then adjust the view settings....

Crazy why not include it in the Revit Structures Template?

I've tried duplicating and renaming a level to "site" and it still would not let me do it?

Could you be more specific about which settings to alter please?

I must have missed something, as I'm still getting the same error message!

Thanks

In the Visibility/Graphics Overrides Dialog box for your newly created "Site" plan view, Model Categories Tab, Check the Show Categories from all disciplines item (bottom left corner of dialog box). Then make sure that both Model Object Categories Site and Topography are checked on....Again, Revit Structure has these toggled off by default...

You Star..... Thanks for that, worked a treat.

It was the "Check the Show Categories from all disciplines item (bottom left corner of dialog box" that I was missing and was causing me not to find the Toposurface and Site toggle box. I had been expanding all the others options looking for them!
