We are running into an unusual problem with a specific door family in a project. for whatever reason, this one particular family of doors does not have a family or family type listed. when the door is selected the type selector is empty, but I can get to the element properties, and I can click on the Edit Family button. in the family, there is no family types shown either. I am the only one in the office who has been working on the doors, but I dont think I would have done something like this if i tried. If i try to reload the doors, I get a multitude of errors and warnings, not just affecting this one particular door type, but everything else in the project. has anyone come across anything like this or seen this before?

Over time, in 2009, Sometimes an element seems to "loose" its ID number. Doors seem to be a prome culprit, especially with nested itemins in the door family. I have never been able to identify what causes this.
Can you delete the door, and add anotherint type in to that wall location? Try renaming the door family, loading the family, and then selecting the renamed instances, and changing them back over to the reloaded name?
Only known way to completely correct it is send it to Autodesk support, and in a couple of days, they can send it back corrected.

I havent had a chance to really mess around with it, we are a big push for this project for the next couple weeks. We have a CAD-Manager on call who was here and saw the problem. he forwarded the issue to Autodesk on 7/2, but we havent heard anything yet. I may have to take the time to see what I can come up with though. thanks for the suggestions.
