I could have sworn there was a tutorial or help file regarding a domed roof. Can someone point in the right direction or provide the link to it?

Thanks,

basically you just do a revolved surface around the center of your space.

I think this is what you are looking for:

Did you know... Autodesk Revit provides tools for creating different roof types? (http://revit.autodesk.com/pillar/custserv/web/service/support_4.0/faq/Implementation_Series/week_7/week_7.html)

Sorry Steve, those are not what I was looking for. The roof I am trying to create is a rounded roof like an upside down cone.

Were you able to make it? do you know how to create inplace families?

a dome is very simple in revit.

just create a ref plane at the center of your dome,
then cut a section that passes thru that plane, click modelling>create>roof> solid> rev. surf> go to the section, draw the shape pick the ref. plane as the axis, finish sketch. If you need mult. layers just repeat the process.

I have not been able to create it and I also have not spent a whole lot of time on it either. I will try your suggestion a little later this evening.

Hi Rodney,
here you go - I hope its what you want.
To see how it was done, just select the roof, edit the family ( button in the options bar ) and then once in the family , click the Edit the sketch profile in the options bar. you will see there how the roof was created ( a profile that revolves around an axis )
hope it helps

sorry for mistyping your name Rodney, i have hurt my hand in my last battle so I have a really good excuse :D

If you look at the upper right corner of your posts there is an edit button, this button let's you edit your own post. So if you don't like something you wrote...you get a second chance, or third or fourth...

Jean,
I have looked at you file a dozen times or more and I am having a hard time trying to recreate the cone type roof. I see that it is a revolved solid but how did you get it to the angle you wanted. I guess a step by step type process of how you drew it is what I am looking for.

Thanks,
