Room Boundary and its affects floor based family

Hi all,

I have two issues which I think may be related to one another.


I have mechanical family (OOTB & customized; floor register) that "disappears" when I nudge it too far in one direction. And it reappears if I continue to nudge further in that direction. In my plan view I am attempting to place the outside edge of my floor register 8" away from the face of the adjacent exterior wall. (see attached).
I have hovered over the "room" and noticed there are some extra lines showing up when the room gets highlighted. (see attached) These extra lines appear approximately where my floor family disappears - my own Bermuda Triangle - and I wonder if that has any affect on my family. If so, why? Aside from that, what are the extra lines representing, and how can I removed them?Thanks.

Hmm... maybe the Architect has modeled a floor "pop-up" that is hiding the fixture? I would open the arch model and see if the room acts the same way in that model. Then cut a section through that location and see if there is anything at the floor elevation that could be causing this phenomenon.

i am the architect....
but I found that a colleague placed, and then hid a plan region. the boundaries had been dragged to the point they were almost touching, so it looked like a reference plane at first.

Once I deleted the plan region the problem went away. thanks
