I want the cut pattern of CMU walls to show in plan view (I use Medium or Fine detail level), but not in a section(also Fine detail).
I've found 2 places to change the fill pattern...1-In the Wall Parameters (Coarse Scale Fill Pattern), 2-Materials (Cut Pattern)
The only way I can get this to work is to change the section view to coarse detail and change the coarse scale fill pattern to solid white.
And now for the question... :D
Does anyone have a better way to do this?
ps... I wish we could bind a cut pattern to the object styles of the walls

The basic concept of wall hatching is that the material definition creates the hatching within the wall. Make a CMU material with the correct drafting pattern you want to show up in plan cut. Make this the material for the wall componet. <Unless I really misunderstood your question...>

you assign it in the material
Ie masonry-cmu
surf pattern - whatever(typ. a surface pattern)
cut pattern - whatever(typ. a drafting pattern)
The cut pattern will display in all views except coarse, that is where the coarse scale fill pattern is displayed if one is set.
Make sure your wall structure has the cmu material selected.

I'll elaborate...
What i'm trying to do is have the wall cut pattern show in plan view, but not in a section view.
Look at the image i've attached.
Keep in mind that i've changed the coarse scale fill pattern to Solid Fill with a white color.
I'm using the material shown at the right for the wall.
The top section view (Section 2):
--has a coarse detail level (so the coarse fill of the wall will be used)
--I've used detail components for the CMUs (they have filled regions for the hatch)
PROBLEM - My roof just shows its outline (not a big deal, I can add a coarse scale fill pattern to it...i think :? )
The bottom section view:
--fine detail level
--you see what I'm talking about with the wall cut pattern
I hope this helps explain what I want :)

Try using the CMU detail components that mask the background items so the hatch is hidden...that's the issue right? You don't want the redundant hatch?

That's correct.
So just add a white filled region to the open space of the CMU detail components?!
Now, I see it... the Bond Beam (has filled regions everywhere) hides the hatch :banghead:
Thanks
Edit...Extra Credit Removed, I fixed it

Here's some extra credit for ya
My Bond Beam detail component is not showing the rebar that's in it.
The concrete filled region hides them. Any suggestions on how to keep the rebar visible?
BTW, the rebar the "Reinf Bar Section" detail component from the Std. Revit components.
A little tip  - when you are blanking areas out with white "solid" fills, DONT use the solid fill as the pattern, use "none" as the pattern. When you export to autocad you wont get solid blocks of colour, it just blanks out. - if you use a white solid, this appears in autocad exports. I dont know of a way to do it with the lines though?...........
