View Full Version : what could cause my room names to disappear and become uneditable?

I have a selection of rooms in a project that seem to have lost their names. there is a question mark for the name in the tag now. when clicking the tag to edit, the question mark parameter is now red, as if it were a type parameter. upon inspection in the schedule, it's now a blank space, and does not allow editing (as if it were now some multi-type param...)
sucks because the project issues today, and copying them in from yesterdays' file (when they were working) results in the same issue.
i haven't seen this one before... any ideas?

You didn't upgrade that from another version did you. I've seen that blow away entire schedules.

nevermind...finally figured it out.
someone on the team added the Room Name parameter to a key schedule and then left it blank.
I love these days when it takes until 3:30pm to get back to where I was when I walked in the door this morning...:banghead:

Yep, that's one of those great things about Revit. Someone can instantly change everything in the model to something you don't want. Then you can spend the rest of the day trying to figure out how to get back to where you started. What's really fun is where you lose your network connection while working on your local file. Since you lost connection to your Central file, Blamo, now everything screams 'Oh ****, What happened" and you get to spend the next 2 hours re-creating what you might have lost.

We had a project where somebody didn't like all those stupid 1/8" and 1/16" dimensions.
So they changed the standard Dimension Style to round off to 1/2".
Project issued an addendum that way & no one noticed until the Curtain Wall supplier called. They thought it was odd that all of our Details were in even inches.
Luckily it was easy to fix.
