User defined hatch problem

I am trying to hatch an area using the user defined hatch command. I need to produce a grid of 600mm x 600mm using a corner of this area as a set out point, so I have reset the origin of the UCS to this setting out point.
The grid is not setting itself out from the corner, do I need to change a system variable, or am I missing something ?

Cheers MJ Farrell, snapbase was the problem, it was set to some wierd co-ordinate, even the z value.
