"A required resource was unavailable" error?
What does this mean?
This happens just before your revit session goes to black /negative mode.

I think it's a Graphics Card issue in the
HP Compaq dc7800 Ultra-Slim desktop.
It only seems to happen with Revit on only these cpu's

Graphics card: Intel(R) Q35 Express Chipset Family.
These are running XP w/ 3GB of RAM.

Does somebody have this problem with these computers to confirm my theroy?

The Revit Clinic post THIS (http://revitclinic.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/07/resource-string-error-when-attempting-to-open-a-project-in-revit-structure-2010.html) today. Deals with Revit Structure but I've seen it with RAC too. Any chance this is "it"?

From their post:

When you try to open a project in Revit Structure 2010, you may encounter the following error:

"Cannot find the resource string number xxxx in resource AecBase60" (where xxxx is a unique number)

This error is related to a DLL conflict between Revit Structure 2010 and AutoCAD 2009. There are two approaches you can take to be able to open your file:

The DLL file in question was updated in Service Pack 1 for Revit Structure 2010, which is available at the product website: Revit Structure 2010 Update 1. After installing the update you should no longer receive the error.

If you're not ready to install the update yet, you will be able to open your project by moving any DWGs that are linked to the file to a different location on your system. Revit will be unable to find them when attempting to load the project, which will relieve the conflict. Once the project is open, try reloading the DWGs one by one.

We had the same thing happening in 2010 struc. The message appeared when revit was trying to find and or load any dwg links. It simply would not open the file.

As steve says we installed wu1 and then our problems went away.

That's not the error.
Also it is happening only with RAC 2009 so far.

Have you tried to install the latest drivers for the graphic card?

Yes Checked Graphics card driver #1

These are the other things I've have tried.
One more thing I'll try is the hardware acceleration open GL on vs off?

1. Checked Graphics card driver, it was up to date.
2. Replaced the Revit.ini file
3. Checked & installed Windows Updates.
4. cleared Temporary internet files,
5. emptied Recycle bin.
6. Checked Hard drive for space limitations, there way plenty of space on the Hard drive (over 20GB of free space).
7. Increased Virtual Memory to recommended amount.
8. enabled 3GB switch
9. Made sure operating on latest Revit version.
10. Checked AUGI for the same issue (none found)

I'm having the same problem - I don't believe it is the graphics card because I just put a new one in and it is still happening...
It was happening with a GTS 8800 as well as with my new Radeon 4890.
Anyone have any luck with a fix?

No fix here, just bought different computers. All things good on the new ones. ~shrug~
