We're trying to get the baluster post placement correct (a seemingly impossible task) on the stairs for a project we're working on. We want to control where the baluster post are placed near the corners (we want them 4" away from each corner but not at the corner).

In the images attached, I have circled in red (3d view) and placed a red "X" (plan view) where we don't want the post.

Any suggestions on how to do this? I have tried to specify (in the Edit Baluster Placent dialog box) "none" at the corner post but then everything else looks screwed up.

Perhaps it would help to try 2 separate railings, each with individual control of posts/balusters, instead of a single/continuous railing trying to achieve those results?

These are extremely tricky to accomplish in Revit. Maybe you'll get lucky, and Phil Read will weight in on this. He is the Revit Railing Guru without par.

I'd try one of two things. One define a separate railing with no posts or pickets. Then Chop the corners out, and make that small corner a different railing type so they appear correct.

I have not tried it, but what about nesting a generic model of the railing corner into a Post or baluster family? Then you might get this custom corner post to work.

I think the stairs and railings programing are way to complicated for Autodesk to create.

It would cost them a full year to come up with something.
