View Full Version : CW Mullion Join Leaves Gaps in Vertical Members

The curtain system we are using has continuous aerofoil horizontal profiles with a 150 back box. The vertical member is a solid rectangular mullion with a deeper 250 back box.
The problem is when we make the horizontal members continuous the deeper vertical members dont continue through. See screen shot for details
Has anyone experienced this before and found a solution?
Thanks

I have experienced it before and I have not found a solution.

I tried one with simpler, rectangular mullions, and the verticals do run thru.
It's a "front-glazed" arrangement, also. I have also selected "vertical grid continuous" under Join Condition. see attached.
Don't know if it would help to try to simplify it down to rectangular mullion profiles,
and see if you get the same bad behavior? If not, it may be the custom rounded
profiles that are the culprit?
good luck and let us know if you get to a solution
cheers.........

Here is a quick attempt. I made a line based family that is just the aerofoil part of the mullion. I could then place the component by picking the exterior face of the curtainwall and it will lock to it so that it should stay aligned with the mullions. This system will not work well if you have a curved curtainwall. See the second image. A solution to that could be to try a custom shaped structural beam. and then change the beam joins to a miter.
