Hey guys!

I`m having an issue I was hoping you could help me out with. I have a point file I want to import to my Revit project, so I can check the placing for some excisting constructions. The problem is that when I do the normal thing: Insert-->Link CAD-->choose the file and select Auto-By shared coordinates, I first get this message that the coordinates of the file I`m importing and my project doesn't have the same coordinates. So the linked file's world coordinates will be aligned with my projects shared coordinates. All good so far, this is what I want. But then I recieve an error I don't want to have. "Imported objects located a large distance from the model might not display properly. The 'Center-to-Center' option will be used."
This means that my point file have been moved, and I don't know where I should place it so it will be at the right coordinates.

I will be gratefull for any help and suggestions.

Thanks!

Hi dgreen!

I`m well known about this problem. That you need to move your dwg-files close to 0,0,0 WCS in Autcad. But I thought it might be different when you allready had set up your Revit project with Shared Coordinates. Then the drawing in Autocad and your shared coordinates in Revit should be the same.
One other thing I noticed is that if I import a dwg-file center to center with large coordinates, I get some kind of graphics artifacts. When I zoom in and out the imported lines are going nuts!

I hope there is an answer to this two problems. I could import my dwg-file with the measurements in a dwg-file with known grid lines, and have the correct coordinates. But then I'll have to move that file closer to 0,0,0, and then import it to revit, and then move it so it fits my grid lines in my Revit project. I want to import the measurements dwg-file (point file) directly to my Revit project without messing up the coordinates, and that file should then be placed at the right place with the right coordinates when importing with shared coordinates. Is this possible?
